Maybe your business has come to the point where you need more capital. You may need to purchase real estate or additional equipment, buy out a partner, purchase a business and have decided to take out a business or real estate loan. The Law Offices of Kirk Halpin & Associates, P.A. can help your business obtain a loan. Our firm represents a number of traditional lending institutions, as well as hard money, mezzanine, and other non-traditional lenders.
Criteria & Concerns
If you’re considering applying for a business or real estate loan, it’s crucial that you understand all of the criteria and requirements for obtaining such business loans. You also want to make sure that the terms of your loan do not over-secure the lender. One of our clients, on their own and without the advice of counsel, approached a bank to obtain a loan to renovate 2 investment properties, but when the client provided the bank with a list of potential collateral the client included 5 properties none of which had a mortgage on them and the bank took all 5 properties instead of just the 2 that needed the financing. This presented issues when the other 3 properties needed funds for renovations and the properties were already mortgaged. This required the loan that the client had obtained on their own to be refinanced and unfortunately required payment of a prepayment penalty. Working with a firm like The Law Offices of Kirk Halpin & Associates, P.A. at the outset could have prevented such a scenario from occurring.
Protect Your Business
Growing your business may be necessary, but trying to negotiate terms of a new loan on your own could also be risky and expensive later on. Don’t get involved with bad business loans from bad creditors. Working with a business lawyer will ensure that the terms of your loan give you the best bang for your buck. Don’t let lenders take advantage of you; call a business lawyer now if your business needs financing to expand, buy out an existing partner or purchase a business.
